Case Study 2 – Independent Social Work

Case of Mrs A

In this blog the following example illustrates the independent social work support that I have previously provided to a private client.

Mrs A was a single parent caring for her 8-year-old daughter who had special needs.  Mrs A was struggling to cope as the main carer and manage her daughter’s challenging behaviour.

Mrs A contacted me because she felt ‘left to get on with it’ and was becoming increasingly stressed and worn out.

Independent Social Work Support Provided:

  • I visited Mrs A and advised that she as legally entitled to a Carers Assessment in her own right and signposted her to essential carer support services available in her local area.
  • I provided Mrs A with welfare benefit information and signposted her to local services who could ensure that she was claiming the maximum financial support that she and her daughter were entitled to.
  • I completed a funding application claim form on Mrs A’s behalf to help her request monies to purchase support services to relieve her caring role.
